Jay Sebastian Gomez

9 & Under

My name is Jay Sebastian Gomez and I am 9 yrs old. I live in Rancho Viejo, Tx.  I have two brothers and a dog.

My favorite golf player is Dustin Johnson. My dream is to someday play on the PGA. 

This summer I competed in 12 tournaments with the RGV Jr Golf association and ended the season with 6 first place medals, 5 second place medals and 1 third place medal.  

 

I am so excited to be a part of this year’s Border Cup Team.  I want to thank RGV jr Golf for a great experience and of course my mom and dad for all of their love and support.

Allie Danielle Ybanez

9 & Under

Allie is a 5th Grader at the Pharr Oratory of St. Phillip Neri School. 

She has participated in the RGV Jr Golf Association for the past 2-1/2 years.  

She is an avid dancer and piano player.  Allie enjoys reading on her spare time.

Brianne C  Cheatham

9 & Under

My name is Brianne Cheatham, I am 9 years old and an elder sister of 4-year-old twin brothers. They like to play golf with me and cheer for my games.

I joined in the 2015 summer golf program at Los Lagos.

Since then, I started practicing and working hard on getting better, participated in 2016 summer golf tournaments and even liked it better when I had some great hits. I also had some bad shots but kept on improving from year-to-year and managed to get a place in every tournament this summer with 3 golds, 6 silvers, 2 bronze, and got the gold medal from the 2018 TAAF games in College Station.

I am now loving golf and wish to keep on playing better in future tournaments.

Kai Tamez

Kai Austin Tamez is 10 years old and resides in Edinburg, Texas. He enjoys the outdoors and loves playing golf and baseball. When Kai isn’t playing sports he is spending quality time with his family and friends playing video games, riding his bike or throwing passes. Kai’s favorite food is shrimp and his favorite golfer of all time is Jordan Spieth.

 

During the 2018 Rio Grande Valley Junior Golf Association summer tournaments, Kai earned (4) First Place medals, (2) Second Place medals and (2) Third Place medals.

 

Kai has had such an amazing experience playing in the RGVJGA tournaments over the summer and looks forward to competing again next summer.

 

This is Kai’s 2nd year qualifying for the Border Cup and he is anticipating bringing home another win.

Adhira Tippur

My name is Adhira Tippur and I am 11 years old. I am in 7th grade at South Texas Preparatory Academy. My hobbies include golf, swimming, sewing, horse riding, and reading.

My favorite golfer is Dustin Johnson.

Esteban Gonzalez

12-13

Esteban Gonzalez has been a member

of the RGV Junior Golf Association for the past 4 years. Esteban will be an 8th Grader at Cathey Middle School in McAllen. Cathey Middle School won the Inaugural 2018 District Golf Champion and Esteban was the Individual District Champion.

Esteban also participates in the STPGA and qualified to 2018 Summer Championship. Esteban won the 2018 TAAF Games held in Bryan, Texas. Esteban was a member of the 2017 RGV Junior Border Cup Team. Esteban’s favorite PGA Player is Justin Thomas. Esteban is also a member of the Cathey MS Band and plays the percussion.

Gabriel Guerrero

12-13

Gabriel Guerrero is a 13 year old from Mission, Texas, who has developed a passion for golf over the past years.  Gabriel has participated in 7 RGVJGA Tours, 7 TAAF Tournaments, 4 years of STPGA Tournaments which include at least 4 STPGA Champonships.  In 2018 he earn a spot on the Sharyland North Jr High School Golf Team where they became District Champions and Gabriel coming in as runner up in individual score. Golf has taught Gabriel dedication, commitment, and  discipline.  He is honored to be able to represent the RGVJGA in the 2018 Border Cup.

Stacie Durzzo

My name is Stacie Durzzo and I am 12 years old. This school year I will be attending Rising Scholars Academy in San Benito as a 7th grader. I have been playing golf since I was four years old with the help of my coach, Paul Chavana. With his help, I have drastically improved my golf game. My favorite golfer is Michelle Wei because she thrives under pressure and is a great competitor. Some of the accomplishments I have achieved include winning several first-place awards during the summer tournaments hosted by the RGV Junior Golf Association, as well as 1st place in the 2017 Summer Games of Texas. My career goals are to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. I also want to continue playing golf competitively.

Brianna Vela

Brianna Vela is a 13 year old girl who lives in McAllen Texas with her mom, dad, twin sister, and dog (Benson).

She is currently playing in the RGVJGA and STPGA tours.

Brianna attends our Lady of sorrows Catholic school along with her sister. She enjoys drawing, painting, fishing, and of course playing golf. She enjoys the wonderful experience you get playing golf, and the amazing feeling when you hit a great shot.

She owes all her successes to her Mom, Dad, Sister, and Coach (John Garcia)

Dylan Killalea

Dylan Killelea enjoys sports where results are ultimately based 100% on personal commitment, inputs and passion.  After participating in motocross races throughout the southwest since the age of five, Dylan decided to pursue a different challenge and began golfing in 2015.  He attends Sharyland High School and is a member of the Varsity Golf Team.  His coaches have been instrumental in his skills development and athletic mental growth.  His favorite golfer is Dustin Johnson.

Annah Mae Wells

My name is Annah Mae Wells, I’m the daughter of Donnie Wells and Cipriana Gonzalez’s-Wells. I’m 15 years of age and I’m currently a sophomore at McAllen Memorial high school(2nd year Varsity team for Lady Mustang Golf)in McAllen, Tx. I’m a part of the RGV Junior Golf Association and have been a part of the Laredo Junior Golf Association. Through my 3 years of playing golf I have been able to place numerous times and have been a part of local and non-local golf tournaments. Golf has taught me many things, hard work, dedication, loyalty, honesty, ethics and much more. 
Here are some of my placings for 2017/2018;
2017-Boy’s & Girl’s Club of Zapata Co. 2nd place medalist.
2017-Laredo Junior Golf Association “Big Red Golf Tournament” 3rd place medalist.

I also enjoy playing volleyball and basketball, my plans after graduating High school will be to attend Oklahoma University in Norman,OK. Get a masters degree in Biomedical Engineering.

Allison will be a Freshman at Los Fresnos High School this coming school year and this was her first year playing with the RGV Junior Golf Association.

 

Allison began playing golf 5 months ago and has worked hard over the summer learning and improving her game and has placed several times during the 2018 summer tour. 

Allison is excited and honored to have been chosen for the 2018 Jr. Border Cup Team.

Raul Gonzalez has been a member of the RGV JR Golf Association for the past 4 years. Raul will be an 11th Grader at McAllen Memorial High School. He has been a member of the varsity golf team which has won 2 District titles and advanced to the Regional State Tournament for the second straight year.

Raul also participates in the STPGA and qualified for the 2018 Summer Championship. Raul was a member of the Inaugural 2017 RGV Junior Border Cup Team. Raul’s favorite PGA player is Jordan Speith. Raul’s hobby is fishing and spending time supporting his classmates in different sports.

Mia Lerma

I live in Mission, Texas. I am the daughter of Anthony and Sarah Lerma, and sister of Leah Lerma. I started playing golf at age 9.
I am going to be a senior at Mission High School.

I enjoy playing golf and participating in tournaments with the RGVJGA and STPGA. When not playing golf, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and pets. I look forward to playing golf at the college level.

Some of my accomplishments this summer was winning the South Texas Junior Golf Classic and qualifying and placing 4th at the STPGA junior golf championship.

My name is Briana Arelia Silerio.

I live in Palmview, Texas. I am the daughter of Pedro and Cecilia Silerio, and sister of Bianca G. Silerio and Pedro Silerio III. I started playing golf at age 4.

I am going to be a senior at Palmview High School. I enjoy playing golf and participating in tournaments with the RGVJGA and STPGA. When not playing golf, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and pets. I look forward to playing golf at the college level and getting a degree in chemical engineering.
